Because of weather conditions, we can't camp in the desert during the summer period. Thus, we propose this summer program based always on the same principles.

 

Day 01: Reception at the airport of DJERBA ZARZIS and transfer at home.

Day 02:  DJERBA / GABES/TOZEUR

Departure to Gabes via the ferry. Continuation to Tozeur crossing the salt lake “CHOTT IL JERID”. Stop to admire the beauty of the second largest salt lake in the world with its 4800 km². After that direction to Tozeur to visit the Old Medina (the historical city). Direction to the hotel of "dar chrayit" (5 *) or similar. After lunch visit of the three mountain oases Chebika, Tamerza and Mides. Back to the hotel.

Day 03:  TOZEUR/KEBILI/DOUZ

Departure from Tozeur to kibili via "Souk Lahad. Visit of fatnassa with its  solidified and crystallized dunes with a naturally beautiful landscape around! Direction to the oases of the Sahara. visit  of the village of Sabria one of the most forgetten  villages invaded by the sand. Back to Noueil and Zaafrane. Direction to the hotel "Il Mouradi (4 *) or similar or to a camp to spend the night in Berber tents or under the stars! In the afternoon a visit of the market of Douz. Opportunity to go for a ride camel and watch the sunset over the dunes of fine sand. (Optional).

Day 04 : DOUZ/TAMEZRET/MATMATA

Breakfast and direction to the berber village of Tamezret for a visit with a local guide. Continuation to the Old Matmata to stay in a troglodyte house. Lunch and a rest. In the afternoon, a walk to discover the city. Time to spend until sun set near the places which served as lunar landscapes in the film "Star Wars" to George Lucas. Back at home after a beautiful sunset. Preparation of bread in the oven, and cooking dinner. the group is recommended to participate in all preparations!

NB: Spend the night on the floor and without light. Candles or gas lamps will be available, however.
Berber cuisine and meals will be on the menu.

Day 05: MATMATA / TOUJENE / DJERBA

After breakfast return to Djerba taking a mountain road with 40km of beautiful scenery along the road. Stop for a magic panoramic photo "TOUJENE", one of the beautiful Berber villages in Tunisia. Continuation to the "MARSA" or "JORF" to take the ferry . After 15 minutes we are on the island of djerba. Departure to "SIDI Jmour" to visit an old marabout. Continuation to "BORJILIJ" and "GALA" to see the beaches of stone or rock. After that direction to home. Lunch and a short rest. In the evening departure to "Guellala" to visit the Ethnographic Museum. Back at home.

Day 06: HOUSE / HOUMT SOUK / WALK AT SEA

After breakfast departure to "HOUMT Souk" for shopping to buy the needed for our trip at sea. Visit of vegetable market to buy ingredients for Tunisian salad. Then fish market to buy fresh fish for barbecue. Once all equipments are on board, direction towards a small island. Preparing lunch (cut tomatoes and onions and so on. Peel fish and clean and prepare the grill. Meanwhile, we will see a demonstration of fishing net and also the "ZARBA". After and before meals you can swim, read, or fish. Back to home. Dinner

The grill will be made of coal.

Day 08: Transfer to the airport of Djerba ZARZIS
